About the Department

Department Of Mathematics

SRM Valliammai Engineering College was founded on 09.09.1999 by Dr.T.R. Parivendhar to impart world class education in Engineering Technology and particularly to develop useful manpower with entrepreneurship qualities for industry. It is a self-financed institute run by Valliammai Society The institute offers engineering seven UG degree courses and seven PG degree courses. It is approved by AICTE, accredited “A” grade by NAAC, NBA and affiliated to Anna University. The institute is spread over wide area with modern laboratories and infrastructure, well-qualified staff-members. It is an ISO 9001:2015 certified institute.

Since the inception of the College, in the year 1999, the Department of Mathematics has been effectively functioning. The Department stands focused to its ideals in imparting knowledge and preparing the students towards achieving academic excellence through the acquisition of core competence in Mathematics which is relevant to the engineering professionals. The course curriculum is periodically upgraded to suit to the requirements of the different engineering courses as per the stipulations of the AnnaUniversity,Chennai-600025.

Department of Mathematics has highly qualified and experienced staffs who are actively involved in teaching and research in the field of Mathematics and its applications. Presently there are 4 doctorates in the department and three of the faculty is pursuing Ph.D.

The objective of the department is to motivate and inspire the students to have a strong background in the basic Mathematics and to offer a wider exposure to the engineering students. The Department association “EULER.COM” organizes guest lecturers for the students to expose the application of Mathematics in their relevant branches. Also the association organizes MATHFEST every year to motivate the students in learning mathematics and apply it to make mathematical models.
